GWM's European Revival: 10 New Models for a Competitive Comeback
China's Great Wall Motor (GWM) aims to launch 10 new models in Europe over two years. Previously unsuccessful in the market, GWM plans a strategic return with a mix of hybrids, EVs, and combustion vehicles. The automaker targets sales in 13 European markets, including Italy and Spain.
China's Great Wall Motor is setting its sights on Europe once again, revealing plans to introduce at least 10 new models over the next two years. Initially making waves with electric vehicles at the 2021 Munich car show, GWM struggled to maintain momentum in the competitive European market.
In a bid to successfully re-enter Europe, GWM will target 13 markets over the next year. The company plans to release a diverse vehicle lineup, including hybrids and combustion-engine models, alongside EVs. The first offering, the Ora 5, is slated for release in the first half of 2026.
Despite a challenging market with numerous Chinese rivals, GWM remains ambitious, aiming to double its overseas sales by 2029. Plans to establish a European factory are underway, although the location remains undecided. Automotive experts, however, warn that the market's competitiveness may pose a significant challenge.
