Spain Takes Stand Against AI-Generated Abuse on Social Media
The Spanish government, led by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, has initiated an investigation into social media platforms X, Meta, and TikTok for the spread of AI-generated child sexual abuse material. Sanchez emphasizes the need to protect children's rights and mental health, proposing new measures including restricting social media access.
The Spanish government has launched a significant investigation against social media giants X, Meta, and TikTok amid allegations of disseminating AI-generated child sexual abuse content. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced this development, highlighting a broader move to safeguard minors online.
Sanchez criticized these platforms for jeopardizing children's mental health and dignity. He declared that the impunity enjoyed by these major corporations must come to an end, underscoring the state's responsibility to protect its young citizens.
Earlier this month, as part of a series of protective measures, Sanchez proposed banning access to social media platforms for individuals under 16. This is in line with the government's renewed efforts to curb online abuse and enhance child protection.
