Indian golfers Shubhankar Sharma and Yuvraj Sandhu experienced challenging starts at the prestigious Volvo China Open in Shanghai, ending the first day at 48th and 153rd positions, respectively. Sharma, fresh off a victory on his home tour, managed a 1-under 70, while Sandhu struggled with a 9-over 80.
The opening round at the Shanghai Enhance Anting Golf Club saw Spain's Alejandro Del Rey taking the spotlight with an extraordinary 10-under 61. Del Rey's performance included an impressive nine birdies, one bogey, and an eagle, placing him ahead by one stroke.
Trailing closely was China's 18-year-old sensation, Yanhan Zhou, who delivered a flawless debut round of 9-under 62, comprising seven birdies and an eagle, much to the delight of the local audience. This set an exciting pace for the tournament.
