OKGC: Oklahoma's New Home Team on the Global Golf Stage
LIV Golf rebrands Smash GC as OKGC, making Oklahoma its home market. Led by Oklahoma's Talor Gooch, OKGC will debut under its new identity at the LIV Golf Virginia event. This aligns with LIV Golf’s aim to strengthen regional and global partnerships, amidst challenges over Saudi funding.
LIV Golf announced on Tuesday the rebranding of Smash GC to OKGC, marking a strategic shift by aligning a franchise with a U.S. market, specifically Oklahoma.
Talor Gooch, an Oklahoma native and team captain, will lead OKGC as it debuts this identity at the LIV Golf Virginia event in May. Gooch expressed pride in representing his home state, emphasising a team identity that embodies Oklahoma's values and resilience.
The move follows recent affirmations from LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil about the league's continuation despite financial uncertainties. Establishing OKGC expands regional partnerships, enhancing fan engagement and broadening LIV Golf's competitive footprint.
