Bernard Foley, affectionately dubbed the 'Iceman' for his nerve-wracking precision, is retiring from professional rugby at the culmination of the Japanese season, as confirmed by his team, Kubota Spears. The 36-year-old last represented Australia in 2022 before playing a crucial role in securing the League One title in 2023 with the Spears.

Foley, who made a name for himself as a rugby sevens specialist by clinching silver at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, etched his name in history with the New South Wales Waratahs. In 2014, his 79th-minute penalty secured their first Super Rugby title, a win still celebrated by fans.

Foley also became a national hero with his pivotal performances in the 2015 World Cup, scoring 28 points to oust England and firing an 80th-minute penalty to send Scotland packing in the quarter-finals. Though he has played his last match for Australia, Foley leaves a legacy marked by determination and success.
