Shapoor Zadran, the former Afghanistan left-arm fast bowler, is in a critical condition in the ICU of a New Delhi hospital. Diagnosed with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a grave disorder that compromises the immune system, Shapoor's battle for survival continues, according to ESPNcricinfo.

The cricketer, who played for Afghanistan from 2009 to 2020, began experiencing health issues last October. His younger brother, Ghamai Zadran, shared that Shapoor's deteriorating health prompted an urgent medical journey to India for advanced treatment in January. Assistance from Rashid Khan, Afghanistan's T20I captain, and Mirwais Ashraf, ACB chairman, helped expedite his Indian visa.

Further complications, including severe infections, TB, and brain invasion, emerged, as confirmed by scans. Despite showing improvement after a treatment phase, his condition relapsed. Subsequent tests revealed Stage Four HLH. Recently, steroid therapy has offered a glimmer of hope for recovery, according to Ghamai.
