Gaurav Gill Shines at South India Rally As He Returns With a Bang
Gaurav Gill made a triumphant return to rallying after a year-long hiatus, dominating the initial leg of the 49th South India Rally. Driving a Volkswagen Polo alongside new co-driver Srikanth Gowda, Gill led the pack in both the Asia-Pacific and Indian National Rally Championships, outpacing rivals with impressive time sheets.

In a stellar comeback after a year's absence from the sport, Gaurav Gill showcased his formidable rallying prowess at the 49th South India Rally, held at Madras International Circuit. The event marks the second round of the FIA Asia-Pacific Rally Championship and the first round of the FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship.
The seasoned Delhi-based racer, renowned for his three Asia-Pacific Rally Championship titles and seven National titles, dominated the early proceedings. Gill completed two loops of the 1.45 Km dirt Super Special Stage with a combined time of two minutes, 51.5 seconds, finishing 5.1 seconds ahead of his closest competitor, Karna Kadur.
Facing stiff competition, Gill credited his team, R-Tech, for quickly readying his Volkswagen Polo amid delays in parts arrival. Partnered for the first time with co-driver Srikanth Gowda, Gill expressed satisfaction with his return, highlighting the importance of precision and control in maintaining his lead.
