Sahith Theegala commenced his campaign at the RBC Heritage tournament with a promising start, posting an opening round of 2-under 69, placing him tied for 27th. Despite trailing Sweden's Ludvig Aberg by six strokes, Theegala showed early promise with three birdies in his first four holes, totaling four in the initial seven holes.

Theegala opened with consecutive birdies on the first two holes but stumbled with a bogey on the third. He quickly recovered, notching another birdie on the fourth. By adding birdies on the seventh and ninth holes, he reached 4-under at the halfway mark. However, the back nine presented more difficulties, with bogeys on the 10th, 11th, and 18th holes, countering a birdie on the 15th, concluding his day at 2-under.

Fellow Indian-origin players faced tougher starts: Akshay Bhatia recorded a 2-over 73, finding himself tied for 65th, while Sudarshan Yellamaraju ended the round at 3-over 74, tied for 70th. Bhatia's round included three bogeys and a single birdie, while Yellamaraju struggled after a triple bogey on his first hole, despite managing one birdie later on.

At the top, Ludvig Aberg delivered a flawless round, finishing with a bogey-free 8-under 63 to secure a one-shot lead. Harris English and Viktor Hovland are closely following, each carding 7-under 64. Notable performances included Scottie Scheffler's 3-under 68 and FedEx Cup leader Cameron Young's even-par 71. Meanwhile, defending champion Justin Thomas found himself languishing with a 5-over 76, tied for 80th.
