This year's French Open will boost its prize fund by 9.5%, amassing a total of 61.7 million euros, organizers revealed on Thursday. This uptick follows a consistent increase in player earnings at the claycourt Grand Slam.
The event, held annually at Roland-Garros, offers equal prize money for both men and women amid ongoing discussions for revenue distribution reforms. Despite these changes, Roland-Garros trails behind other major events in prize offerings.
Honouring players like Caroline Garcia and Gael Monfils, who are retiring, is part of this year’s agenda. Additionally, the tournament will experiment with wearable tech to monitor athletes' performance, a first for a Grand Slam.
