Former Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar has voiced concerns over the Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) bowling performance, urging strategic changes following their two initial defeats in the current season. On Star Sports' 'Amul Cricket Live', Gavaskar noted that CSK might need to consistently aim for high scores, possibly around 225–230, to give their bowlers a fighting chance.

The cricket expert highlighted the deeper batting strength of rival teams like Punjab Kings, where players such as Marcus Stoinis showcased significant batting depth. Gavaskar praised Ayush Mhatre, who shone with a score of 73 off 43 balls, for his adaptability at the No. 3 batting position, extolling his balanced approach and positive mindset.
