In an intense fourth round of the FIDE Candidates Tournament, Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa secured a draw with Germany's Matthias Bluebaum. Despite the even match, Divya Deshmukh faced defeat at the hands of Zhu Jiner from China in the women's segment. Meanwhile, R Vaishali managed a draw against Russia's Aleksandra Goryachkina.
Javokhir Sindarov from Uzbekistan emerged as a significant contender by claiming his third victory in the tournament, decisively defeating the USA's Fabiano Caruana. Sindarov's win has positioned him advantageously in the FIDE Candidates rankings.
In the women's tournament, Zhu Jiner and Anna Muzychuk reclaimed their competitive edge with critical victories. Muzychuk now shares the lead with Bibisara Assaubayeva. These developments followed Praggnanandhaa's unfortunate loss to Sindarov during the third round, despite his strong start against Dutch Grandmaster Anish Giri.
