Following India's T20 World Cup victory, head coach Gautam Gambhir voiced reservations about labeling the success as the 'era of India' in limited-overs cricket. He pointed to two recent ODI series losses as evidence of fluctuating performances.

Despite this, Gambhir has indeed solidified his position as a prominent figure in Indian cricket, adding a T20 World Cup to his achievements which include an Asia Cup and a Champions Trophy title. This World Cup triumph marked India's second consecutive win and their first on home soil, reaffirming their dominance in the T20 format.

Gambhir addressed concerns about his ODI record, noting series losses to Sri Lanka, Australia, and a first-ever defeat to New Zealand, all under Shubman Gill's leadership. With the 2027 ICC World Cup approaching in South Africa and Zimbabwe, questions loom over the future participation of veteran players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Gambhir emphasized a continuous commitment to excellence over the notion of eras, highlighting the privilege and responsibility of representing the nation. Reflecting on the final match, India posted an impressive 255/5 with explosive innings from Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shivam Dube.

In response, New Zealand struggled against India's bowling attack led by Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah, culminating in a comprehensive victory for India as the Kiwis were bowled out for 159. (ANI)
