Zac Lomax, a prominent figure in rugby league, has inked a two-year contract with Rugby Australia to join the Western Force and potentially play for the Wallabies. The 26-year-old, known for his exceptional aerial skills and goalkicking, transitions from league to challenge himself in rugby union.
Lomax was granted an early release from Parramatta Eels to explore opportunities in the R360 rugby union competition. However, with R360's launch delayed, his potential move to the Melbourne Storm was blocked by the Eels, prompting the switch to Western Force. His move is seen as a boost for the Wallabies, who have faced challenges in goalkicking recently.
Joseph Suaalii, who also shifted from league to union, expressed confidence in Lomax's capabilities. Fellow players Angus Crichton and Mark Nawaqanitawase have also transitioned to rugby union, highlighting a growing trend as they aim for spots in the Wallabies team ahead of the Rugby World Cup in Australia next year.
