Indian badminton star Lakshya Sen faced a challenging defeat in the men's singles final at the All England Open on Sunday, extending his streak of losses to familiar rival Lin Chun-Yi of Taiwan.
Despite showcasing tenacity through intense physical hurdles like blisters and cramps, the 24-year-old Sen could not overcome Lin, losing the match 15-21, 20-22. It's his second runner-up finish at this prestigious tournament, having reached the final previously in 2022. This loss marks Sen's fifth consecutive defeat to left-handed Lin.
Only two Indian shuttlers, Prakash Padukone and P Gopichand, have clinched the men's singles title at the All England Open, achieved in 1980 and 2001 respectively. Sen's performance, however, underscored his determination as he advanced past several higher-ranked opponents throughout the week before succumbing in the final clash.
