Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has expressed concerns over Abhishek Sharma's form in the current T20 World Cup, suggesting that the weight of expectations is taking a toll on the young cricketer. Gavaskar, speaking on Star Sports, called for Sharma to adopt a more careful approach at the beginning of his innings to regain confidence.
Currently, Sharma finds himself in a slump, with three consecutive ducks overshadowing his previous reputation as a top-ranked T20I batter. Gavaskar emphasized the importance of playing a smart game initially, advising Sharma to secure a single run to ease the pressure before attempting big shots.
Meanwhile, Gavaskar lauded Shivam Dube and Varun Chakravarthy for their impressive performances against the Netherlands, highlighting Dube's potential and Chakravarthy's key role in India's bowling attack. He also suggested Axar Patel might replace Arshdeep Singh for India's upcoming Super 8 match against South Africa.
