Tormod Frostad: From Beijing Blues to Olympic Gold Glory

Tormod Frostad, a freestyle skier from Norway, turned his Olympic journey around with a gold medal win in big air at the 2026 Games in Milano Cortina. Just four years ago, Frostad left the Beijing Winter Olympics after finishing last in this event.

His remarkable comeback was marked by three breathtaking jumps, scoring 195.5 out of a possible 200 points, and a newfound love for skiing. In 2022, Frostad, then 23, questioned his future in the sport after a disappointing 12th place finish.

Frostad attributed his success to focusing on style rather than just honing technical maneuvers. After landing two exceptional tricks, he entered his final jump with joy rather than pressure, ultimately clinching the gold. Celebrating with prosecco, he described his win as 'amazing.'
