Zimbabwe progressed to the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup as rain halted their crucial match against Ireland on Tuesday. The washout resulted in both teams sharing a point, ultimately knocking former champions Australia and Ireland out of the tournament.
The shared points placed Zimbabwe at five, enough to secure their Super 8 berth. Zimbabwe's next challenge will be against India on February 26 in Chennai, rounding off Group G1, which also includes India, South Africa, and West Indies.
Zimbabwe is set to complete their final group match against Sri Lanka on February 19. With the table-toppers already qualifying, the rain-out was decisive in concluding Zimbabwe's advancement to the next stage amidst persistent rainfall and a wet outfield at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
