Real Madrid is demanding compensation from UEFA following a decision by the Regional Court of Madrid. The court rejected appeals by UEFA, the Spanish football federation (RFEF), and LaLiga related to the Super League initiative, which Real Madrid, among other clubs, supported in 2021 before its collapse.
The European Court of Justice previously found that UEFA and FIFA had violated EU laws by blocking the Super League. This judgment has allowed Real Madrid to pursue claims for damages suffered due to UEFA's actions. The club cited ongoing talks with UEFA aimed at governance reforms but reported no agreements had been made.
Despite the court ruling, UEFA's current regulations remain intact. UEFA stated that the ruling doesn't revive the Super League, which lacks backing even from its early proponents, as major clubs like Juventus and Barcelona have distanced themselves from the project.
