India cemented its place in the semifinals of the ICC Women's World Cup following a decisive victory over New Zealand, led by a stellar performance from young batter Jemimah Rodrigues. Former Indian captain Mithali Raj applauded Rodrigues for her impactful innings, describing it as a 'test of character'. After being left out against England, Rodrigues bolstered India's lineup at number three, contributing a fluent 76 off 55 deliveries, and forming a pivotal second-wicket partnership with Pratika Rawal.

During a discussion on 'Cricket Live', JioStar expert Mithali Raj noted Rodrigues' adept timing in joining the game during the 34th over, asserting it provided the batter ample room to settle into her innings. Raj highlighted Rodrigues' maturity in shot selection, which was a marked improvement from earlier performances, attributing her success to enhanced decision-making at the crease.

Despite a strong fielding choice by New Zealand, India's top order delivered unconstrained firepower, with Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal setting up a formidable base. New Zealand's response fell short, even with notable contributions from Brooke Halliday and Isabella Gaze, as India’s bowling unit maintained pressure. As a result, India clinched a convincing victory, with Mandhana named 'Player of the Match' for her centurion feat.
