Injury Blow: Pratika Rawal Out of Women's World Cup
India faces a significant setback as Pratika Rawal, a key player in the Women's World Cup, has been ruled out due to a knee and ankle injury suffered in a match against Bangladesh. Rawal's absence comes at a critical time with India about to face Australia in the semifinals.
In a major setback for India, Pratika Rawal, an in-form opener, was ruled out of the Women's World Cup due to an injury sustained against Bangladesh. The announcement came on Monday, leaving the team to grapple with her absence as they prepare for the upcoming semifinals.
The 25-year-old cricketer injured her right ankle during the last league match at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday. Rawal's foot got stuck in the turf, causing her to collapse in pain, a source from BCCI confirmed to PTI, adding that she won't be available for the knockout games.
Rawal has been in outstanding form, scoring 308 runs in six innings with an average of 51.33, and hitting her first World Cup century against New Zealand. Her partnership with Smriti Mandhana has been instrumental for India. As doubts persist over Richa Ghosh's fitness, India will face defending champions Australia on Thursday.
