India's future badminton stars made a significant mark at the Badminton Asia U-17 and U-15 Championships on Friday. The nation's players, led by Lakshya Rajesh, Diksha Sudhakar, and Shaina Manimuthu, stormed into the girls' quarterfinals with notable performances against international competitors.
Sixth-seeded Diksha Sudhakar crafted an impressive victory over Chinese Taipei's Pin Hsuan Chiang, claiming the match with scores of 21-19, 21-15, in the U-17 segment. Meanwhile, Lakshya Rajesh showed exceptional skill, triumphing over Korea's Lee Yun Seo with a 21-16, 21-11 victory.
In the U-15 category, top seed Shaina Manimuthu showcased superb control as she outplayed China's Li Man Lin 21-17, 21-16. The event also witnessed competitive matches in doubles, with notable wins by Aditi Deepak Raj and BV Ponnamma Vriddhi, and a strong performance by Jagsher Singh Khangurra in singles.
