The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has sent a formidable 23-member Indian boxing squad to Manama, Bahrain, for the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025, slated from October 23 to 30. The team will contest across 14 weight categories, showcasing a fine balance between male and female competitors in the U-17 category.
Following an intensive training camp at NS NIS Patiala, conducted from September 23 to October 20, the boxers are well-prepared to challenge Asia's finest. The camp honed the athletes' technical acumen and physical endurance, under the leadership of Head Coaches Vinod Kumar for the boys and Jitender Raj Singh for the girls. The coaching team was further bolstered by six additional coaches, two physiotherapists, and one doctor.
Selections for the squad were driven by the recent 6th U-17 Junior Boys & Girls National Boxing Championships 2025, where gold medalists were directly chosen, with silver medalists as alternates. The team already boasts several stars from the Asian U-17 Championships held in July 2025, where India secured 43 medals, finishing as runner-up and affirming its rising status in the youth boxing arena.
A host of promising talents, including Dhruv Kharb, Udham Singh Raghav, Khushi Chand, Ahaana Sharma, and Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari, all gold medalists, are integral to India's impressive youth boxing endeavor. The Asian Youth Games boxing competition, presented in a single-elimination format, will occur at Exhibition World Bahrain Hall 9, culminating in medal ceremonies on October 30, followed by the Closing Ceremony on October 31.
