In a determined stride towards combating frequent flooding, Punjab minister Barinder Kumar Goyal visited Lodhipur, Agampur, Harsabela, and Ajauli to inspect ongoing flood-protection projects. Goyal obtained detailed updates on the efforts along the Sutlej riverbank, emphasizing the importance of timely completion.
The focal point of the Lodhipur project, part of the ambitious 2026 plan, encompasses 1,700 feet of protective works, including both the Sutlej riverbank and Charan Ganga Ravine. The endeavor, pegged at Rs 4.62 crore, promises crucial flood protection for Lodhipur, Burj, and adjacent regions.
The minister also underscored the significance of safeguarding the Agampur bridge, a vital link with cultural and religious ties. Overall, flood-protection measures covering nearly two kilometers, valued at Rs 19.72 crore, are under execution across the regions. Goyal assured strict measures against illegal mining to complement these protective actions.
