In a major initiative to enhance public sanitation, the Delhi government plans to install approximately 1,000 modern washroom facilities across the city. These units, which are part of a larger urban beautification project, will be located in high-traffic areas and aim to replace outdated and poorly maintained facilities.
The project will be executed under the auspices of the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation. The new model features integrated kiosks selling essential items, operated by on-site caretakers to ensure constant supervision and better maintenance of the washrooms.
Scheduled for completion within a year, this initiative has a budget allocation of Rs 300 crore, which also includes other beautification efforts. The upgraded facilities will sport improved amenities, such as enhanced ventilation and chic design, to seamlessly blend with urban landscapes.
