Tragedy Strikes: Woman Killed by Fallen Tree Amid Unseasonal Rains

In a tragic turn of events, a 60-year-old woman lost her life after a tree fell on her in the Sinhagad Road area, as unseasonal rains pounded the city. The fire brigade identified the deceased as Ranjana Navnath Giri, a resident of Anandnagar who sold flowers and garlands from her stall under an old peepal tree.

The unfortunate incident occurred due to gusty winds and rain, leading to the tree's collapse. Giri was rushed to the hospital following the accident but succumbed to her injuries during treatment, officials reported.

The city faced numerous instances of tree falls and uprooting, with heavy rainfall reported in areas like Dhayari, Kharadi, and Hadapsar. The India Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert for the city before the incident.
