Diageo India Drives Safer Roads Initiative in Bengaluru

Diageo India, in a move to bolster road safety and traffic flow, has partnered with the Institute of Road Traffic Education and the Bengaluru Traffic Police. The collaboration centers around improving traffic conditions at key intersections in Bengaluru.

This initiative forms part of Diageo India's Corporate Social Responsibility efforts and involves a comprehensive study focused on Chalukya Circle, Cantonment Railway Station Junction, and H Siddaiah Circle. Using scientific methods, the study analyzed traffic patterns, pedestrian behavior, and infrastructure roles in traffic efficiency. Recommendations for low-cost engineering solutions like enhanced signage and optimised signal placement were made.

Bengaluru faces significant congestion with over 14 million residents and 1.2 crore vehicles. To help address these issues, a two-day training for traffic police was held, emphasizing coordination between planning and enforcement. Diageo India aims to expand this initiative strategically across the city.
