Thane's New Railway Station Honors Late Leader Anand Dighe

The Thane Municipal Corporation has unanimously passed a resolution to name the upcoming railway station between Thane and Mulund after the late Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe. This decision is said to resonate with the sentiments of local residents, reflecting their admiration and respect for the leader.

The new station, which will serve as a crucial link between Thane city and Mulund in Mumbai, is part of a larger infrastructure project addressing the increasing number of daily commuters. The Thane Municipal Corporation had earlier agreed to bear the station's estimated construction cost of over Rs 250 crore under the Smart City initiative.

However, Shiv Sena's MPs, Shrikant Shinde and Naresh Mhaske, have advocated for the Railways to cover the expenses. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has agreed to this and has communicated the decision to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. A formal proposal awaits the final nod from the Railway Board.
