A devastating fire engulfed a multi-storey residential building in Delhi's Palam area on Wednesday morning, resulting in the tragic death of seven family members, three of whom were children, according to officials.
The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) launched an extensive firefighting operation involving 30 fire tenders, as smoke billowed from the structure near Palam Metro Station. Two individuals, in a desperate bid to escape the inferno, leapt from the building and are now undergoing treatment in a hospital.
The fire, which started in a residential unit, spread through the second and third floors, leading to a grim recovery operation by DFS personnel. Despite the efforts to extinguish the blaze and search for survivors, officials report that seven people were pronounced dead at the hospital. The origins of the fire remain unknown as investigators continue to seek answers.
