In a tragic incident at a construction site in Gurugram's Sidhrawali area, seven labourers lost their lives when a mound of soil collapsed on Monday evening, officials said. Four others, including three residents of Nepal, sustained injuries. The incident has raised grave concerns over site safety and management accountability.
The district administration swiftly acted by setting up an inquiry committee to investigate possible negligence. Police have arrested the project and site in-charge, citing a failure to provide adequate safety measures. An FIR was filed under sections related to culpable homicide and endangering life, according to Gurugram police sources.
Further construction at the site, being managed by Signature Global India Pvt Ltd, has been put on hold by Haryana's Labour Department pending restoration of safe working conditions. A report is expected from the investigation led by the sub-divisional magistrate of Manesar, as families of the deceased call for justice and compensation.
