The Supreme Court's decision to intervene in West Bengal's electoral roll saga has been labeled a 'victory for democracy' by Trinamool Congress national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee. During a protest in Esplanade, Banerjee voiced sharp criticism of the Election Commission and the BJP over allegedly manipulating voters' lists.
Banerjee accused the poll body of technical delays aimed at disadvantaging legitimate voters, while praising journalists for confronting the Election Commissioner. The Supreme Court's ruling included directives for mechanisms ensuring legitimate voting rights, validating the TMC's persistent stand, Banerjee said.
According to Banerjee, the court decision reflects a loss of faith in biased electoral processes, emphasizing the continuation of legal and political battle for rightful voting. He urged party workers to assist all citizens with electoral grievances and requested Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to end her ongoing protest.
