A male tiger was found dead in the vicinity of Gundal reservoir, triggering an investigation led by forest officials. The tiger, estimated to be five-six years old, was discovered during a routine patrol by the forest team on Sunday.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the tiger may have succumbed to injuries inflicted by a snare trap, a suspicion prompting further examination. Authorities from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), along with local wildlife officials and a veterinary officer, inspected the location.
In line with the Standard Operating Procedures of the NTCA, a thorough investigation is underway, involving dog squad personnel as well. Local police have been notified and as a wildlife offence case is filed, a post-mortem report is anticipated to clarify the exact cause of death.
