Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant visit to Assam to unveil a series of transformative projects, including a crucial bridge over the Brahmaputra River and a high-tech National Data Centre. These developments are designed to greatly improve connectivity and digital infrastructure in the northeastern part of India.
Among the key projects is the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, a six-lane extradosed bridge that will dramatically cut travel time between Guwahati and North Guwahati. The bridge, known for using groundbreaking technology, aims to withstand the region's high seismic activity while providing enhanced safety and durability.
Additionally, Modi inaugurated a National Data Centre in Kamrup, aimed at strengthening digital services across northeastern states. This technological leap aligns with the Digital India initiative to bolster ICT backbone in the region, signifying a new era of digital transformation in public service delivery.
