The Northeast's inaugural emergency landing facility, recently opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Assam's Dibrugarh district, is set to bolster defence, logistics, and disaster response, according to officials.

Costing Rs 100 crore, the facility is strategically designed for dual civil and military use, accommodating Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jets and transport aircraft as an alternative to the Dibrugarh airport in emergencies.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the preparations, and an air show featuring Tejas, Sukhoi, and Rafale jets highlighted the inauguration.
