A forest watcher was injured in Kerala as he attempted to chase away a wild elephant that had wandered into a populated area. According to wildlife department sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday night in Kuthiran, which is part of the Peechi forest division.
The forest watcher, responding to local complaints about a straying elephant, suffered a leg fracture during the mission to return the animal to its natural habitat. He has since been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Local residents, meanwhile, have expressed concerns over the increasing frequency of such encounters with wild jumbos, raising questions about safety and wildlife management in the region.
