Cyclone Montha unleashed chaos on Vijayawada city as heavy rains and high-speed gale winds lashed the area on Wednesday morning. Several roads were inundated, and numerous trees were uprooted following the severe cyclonic storm's landfall in Andhra Pradesh near Narasapur in West Godavari district.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that as Montha progressed, the system weakened from a severe cyclonic storm to a cyclonic storm. It moved northwest at a speed of 10 kmph and continued to make its presence felt across affected regions.

Observations from the Met Department indicate that Montha's impact began at approximately 7:30 pm on Tuesday, concluding its five-hour-long landfall process by early Wednesday. With heavy rains forecasted at many locations and extremely heavy rain predicted in isolated areas, Montha's impact is expected to linger in Andhra Pradesh and Yanam through October 29.
