Thermo Fisher Scientific has officially inaugurated its expanded Research and Development Centre of Excellence in India, the company announced on Tuesday. Located in Karnataka, the facility is poised to advance antibody design, development, and manufacturing.
The expansion, inaugurated on October 27 by Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, CEO of the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, signifies a Rs 160 crore investment. The 37,000 sq ft facility is equipped with advanced automation and analytical platforms, bolstering immunoassays, protein analysis, and cell-based studies.
The initiative is expected to create over 100 new jobs in the coming years, strengthening local talent and contributing significantly to Karnataka's thriving life sciences ecosystem. Priyank Kharge, Minister for Electronics, IT and Biotechnology, stated that this move aligns with Karnataka's mission to remain a vibrant hub for biotechnology.
