Andhra Pradesh is bracing for the impact of Cyclone Montha, which intensified into a severe cyclonic storm early Tuesday morning. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has confirmed that 3,778 villages are expected to experience heavy rainfall, prompting significant safety measures to protect residents.
The state's response includes establishing 3,174 rehabilitation centers, equipped with essential supplies and staffed by 3,778 secretaries. Naidu urged residents to stay vigilant and adhere to real-time notifications being issued by public address systems across 26 districts.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has advised against unnecessary travel, highlighting severe weather warnings and intense rainfall across numerous districts. In addition, high sea wave alerts are in place, with surface currents projected to pose risks to maritime activities along the coast.
