Four districts across northern Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, experienced significant rainfall on Monday as Cyclone Montha traversed the Bay of Bengal, sitting approximately 480 km east of the city, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC).
Cyclone Montha is anticipated to head north-northwest, making landfall between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam near Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada district on October 28 as a severe cyclonic storm, stated RMC Director B Amudha.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin assured reporters that the anticipated cyclone impact would be minimal in Tamil Nadu. He confirmed government preparedness for potential heavy rainfall, while Minister for Health Ma Subramanian outlined water management strategies in vulnerable areas.
