The National Center for Seismology identified the earthquake's magnitude at 3.4 on the Richter scale, with the epicentre situated five kilometres below Chamoli's surface. This moderate seismic event highlights the area's geological sensitivity.
Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar promptly assured residents that no significant damage had been reported and that safety protocols were being followed to ensure the welfare of the community.
