In a surprising turn of events, Rajya Sabha MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), notably Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak, officially announced their defection to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a press conference held on Friday.
The announcement reveals that a total of seven out of AAP's 10 Rajya Sabha MPs are set to merge with the BJP, adhering to constitutional guidelines that allow such a shift if two-thirds of the party's MPs consent.
Joining Chadha and Pathak are fellow MPs Harbhajan Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Vikram Sahni, Swati Maliwal, and Ashok Mittal. A letter outlining the merger has been submitted to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, signaling a major realignment in the political landscape.
