President Donald Trump is preparing to nominate David Cummins, a seasoned executive, as the new head of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), according to sources familiar with the matter. Cummins is currently a senior vice president at Serco North America, overseeing government contracting across various levels.
Earlier this month, the Trump administration announced plans to privatize significant portion of the TSA operations, alongside reducing its workforce by around 10,000 employees. Cummins's appointment is expected to be a crucial part of this strategic restructuring aimed at improving efficiency.
In a decisive move on his first day in office in 2025, Trump dismissed the current TSA chief, David Pekoske, and has since left the position vacant. Cummins's nomination indicates a pivotal step in Trump's broader agenda for overhauling the agency.
