The Trump administration has green-lit just one Gold Card visa after numerous applications, as revealed by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. This visa, launched by former President Donald Trump, aims to provide non-citizens with U.S. residency for a $1 million fee.
The initiative asks applicants to pay a $15,000 fee to expedite processing, followed by a rigorous screening process. Lutnick acknowledged the approval of only one candidate in a congressional hearing and confirmed the system was designed to ensure secure and thorough vetting.
During its inception in December, Lutnick disclosed to Reuters that around 10,000 people had shown interest in the Gold Card during the pre-registration period. The program anticipates selling thousands of these cards, potentially generating billions of dollars in revenue.
