Navy Officer's Downfall: Arrest in Buenos Aires

Mexican authorities on Thursday announced the arrest of Fernando Farias, a navy officer who has been implicated in fuel trafficking activities, in Argentina.

According to Security Minister Omar Garcia Harfuch, Farias, suspected to be the leader of a smuggling organization, was detained in Buenos Aires. The arrest was made possible through a coordinated effort involving the Mexican Navy, the Attorney General's Office, and Argentine authorities.

Farias was wanted on an Interpol red notice for charges related to organized crime in hydrocarbon trafficking. At the time of his arrest, authorities reported he was carrying a false Guatemalan passport.
