Union Home Minister Amit Shah led an energetic roadshow in Madhyamgram, West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, on Thursday, definitively stating that the ruling TMC's era is nearing its conclusion. Towering from a decorated vehicle, Shah waved enthusiastically to crowds lining Jessore Road, as supporters, decked in party colors, paraded from Madhyamgram Chowmatha to Barasat Dak Bungalow More.

The Mardi Gras-styled entourage held up saffron balloons and giant lotuses, symbols unmistakably linked to the BJP. Shah shared images from the roadshow on his X handle, proclaiming, "At the Madhyamgram roadshow, this saffron color represents anger, protest, and retribution against atrocities committed against women in Bengal. The TMC is on its way out." In a pointed remark, he also referenced the decline of what he termed as the TMC's "corruption and hooliganism," alongside a video of the setting sun.

With voting in 152 assembly seats completed in Thursday's first polling phase, Madhyamgram's second phase is scheduled for April 29, with results announced on May 4. Shah, a month-long campaigner in Bengal, assured reporters that no intruders would be allowed entry into the state should the BJP seize power, amidst the chants of "Joy Shree Ram" and devotional performances from folk artists lining the 1.5 km rally route.
