In an unusual and poignant display of civic duty, a newlywed couple captured the attention of voters at a polling station in Kodambakkam, Chennai. Dressed in traditional wedding garments, the couple paused their celebrations to fulfill their responsibility as citizens by casting their votes for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
Sunil, the groom and an advocate by profession, explained to the press that their wedding date had been arranged before the election schedule was announced. Despite the overlap, the couple was determined not to miss their chance to vote. 'Voting is not merely a duty, but a responsibility,' Sunil asserted.
The couple's dedication was evident as they rushed to their polling station just minutes after their ceremony, with plans to travel to Kallakurichi district for the bride's vote thereafter. Voting commenced across Tamil Nadu's 234 segments amidst significant security on Thursday morning.
