Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on Thursday saw a notable voter turnout, with over 17% of the electorate casting their votes within the first two hours, according to Election Commission data.
By 9 am, around 1.1 crore voters had participated, showing vigorous electoral engagement across various constituencies. Chennai documented a turnout of 16.51%, Madurai 17.08%, Coimbatore 18.45%, and Tiruchirappalli 17.99%.
In significant constituencies such as Kolathur, where Chief Minister M K Stalin is a candidate, the turnout was 17.51%. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin is contesting from Chepauk, which saw a 15.70% turnout, and Edappadi, with AIADMK's Edappadi K Palaniswami contesting, reported 19.04%. This indicates dynamic voter participation in the regional elections.
