In an impassioned plea, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge urged Tamil Nadu voters to assert their democratic rights, emphasizing the need to uphold federalism, equality, and social justice. As citizens cast their votes today, Kharge particularly encouraged first-time voters to participate.

The contest in Tamil Nadu is intense, with the ruling DMK leading a coalition including Congress and Left parties, while the AIADMK, allied with the BJP and others, seeks to reclaim power. Actor Vijay's TVK party is also in the fray, challenging the long-standing DMK-AIADMK dominance.

Over 5.73 crore voters across Tamil Nadu will decide the fate of more than 4,000 candidates. Voting is taking place in 75,064 polling stations, set against the backdrop of a well-prepared security apparatus. Results are expected on May 4.
