In a significant move, the Election Commission announced on Wednesday that 139 individuals have been incorporated into West Bengal's electoral rolls after tribunal orders tied to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) processes.
These newly included voters are now eligible to cast their ballots in the first phase of assembly elections, scheduled for April 23. The tribunals efficiently resolved 657 disputes arising from the SIR, providing these individuals with their right to vote.
The Election Commission has updated booth-wise lists accessible via its online portal, ensuring transparency for the more than 3.60 crore voters, including approximately 1.75 crore women, eligible to participate in this vital democratic exercise on Thursday.
