The BJP is trying to hold onto the Umreth assembly seat by fielding Harshad Parmar, son of the late MLA Govind Parmar, against Congress's Bhrugurajsinh Chauhan. The bypoll, set for April 23, sees significant competition for OBC and Patidar support.
Six candidates have joined the fray, but eyes are primarily on Parmar and Chauhan. The late Govind Parmar's goodwill is a decisive factor for the BJP, which aims to leverage his legacy in this bid. Chauhan, known for his extensive local political background, provides a formidable challenge as he enters the assembly race for the first time.
The election, crucial to both parties, will take place across 306 polling stations, with results expected on May 4. Electoral dynamics are shaped by the significant influence of the Koli and Thakor communities, underscoring the importance of minority votes in shaping the outcome.
