Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar assured voters on Monday that the Election Commission (EC) is dedicated to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections in West Bengal. The first phase of voting is set for April 23.
During a meeting with election officials, Kumar emphasized that the elections will be devoid of fear, violence, and intimidation. Furthermore, efforts will be made to ensure the process is free from inducements and booth jamming.
State employees, local bodies, and autonomous bodies will remain uninvolved in the electoral process. The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has accused the EC of aligning with the BJP, a charge denied by both the EC and BJP. The second phase of voting will occur on April 29, with results anticipated on May 4.
